We’ve Learned to Thrive

I’m happy to see Spring springing forward. Actually, I wish this whole biannual time change thing would just end. I know my dogs, Riley and Ginger, would greatly appreciate that. They are creatures of habit and don’t like their routines being disrupted. Lots of us American Homo Sapiens are like that too. And the last year has put our resistance to change to the test in major ways, hasn’t it? In fact, the lives of every single person on this planet have been impacted by the Covid 19 pandemic. That’s billions of people. I truly respect the way that our leadership at Unity In Naperville has responded and conducted themselves for the past year.

They faced this thing head on, acknowledged the reality of it and made decisions with the health and safety of every single person who comes to Unity or works together to create the services at our Shore Road church home as their paramount responsibility. Watching Rev. Kitty, Kim-Char and Parker figure out how to livestream from their homes when we closed our doors on Shore Road was a Master Class in rising to a challenge, innovation, education and pursuit of excellence under extraordinary circumstances. We should all be grateful for their dedication and service during the past year. And when public health officials gave the green light for more opening, we opened our Shore Road church home to the team as well as Highest Good and Cindy Blank running the slides, which are such an important component of Rev. Kitty’s messages.

And that brings us to today. We are preparing for the opening of in-person services again starting on Easter Sunday, April 4th! Yes, we’re still dealing with some limitations, but COME ON! We’ve all learned to live with some limitations and inconveniences over the past year. We’ve sucked it up, acknowledged them and learned to thrive in spite of them. I’ll leave it to others here to expound more on the details of Easter and you can always go to UnityInNaperville.org to learn about the guidelines and reserve your seat. I urge you to do that, put on your Easter best and join this amazing team on Easter Sunday and give them the standing ovation they and so many others deserve!
