Forgiveness

If you’ve been following our Sunday message series lately, you know our topic is on healing. I don’t know about you, but I’m ready for this pandemic to be over. When facing a worldwide event as we have this past year and a half, it can seem overwhelming and almost impossible to predict when it will end. Which is why it’s so important that we do all we can to focus our thoughts on more than masks and vaccines. As Truth students, it’s also our job to focus our thoughts on the metaphysical principles of healing.

This past week, we talked about how important forgiveness is to the healing process. When we hold onto grudges, bitterness, or hurt because of something another did or said to us, we generate a lower energy in the body. This keeps our cells from communicating with the directive Intelligence of Spirit, making it easier for illness to set in. As the old adage goes, unforgiveness is like drinking poison and waiting for the other person to die. To help the ego become willing to forgive, we remind it that nothing and no one has the power to keep us from our good. Only God is our Source, and the Divine Heart never withholds our good.  Nor does Spirit take offense but is always and only offering love…to everyone…no matter what.

This is also important to remember when we hold ourselves in unforgiveness for something harmful we may have done to another. Shame or guilt are only useful long enough to show us the error of our ways, so we may repair the hurt. If we can’t do that in person, we can at least do it in consciousness. We are all one in the One Mind and our sincere willingness to forgive or be forgiven can be felt by everyone involved, since we all dwell within the Divine Heart. Following are the prayers of forgiveness we covered last Sunday. I encourage you to support your health and well-being by practicing these regularly…even if you’re not aware of a specific need. “When your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light.”

With love,

Rev. Kitty
