Yay!!

YAY!!  Do you see a pattern here?  My January message was YES!!  So, what’s going on here? Starting and continuing on an affirmative path. At Amazon Fresh store recently, I found on clearance a box of greeting cards with just that one word YAY on the front(and a little confetti) and blank inside.  I bought them knowing I’d find reasons to send them.  You see, my son is a volleyball coach at Stevens Institute of Technology in New Jersey, and the team is doing really well, so I sent him a card when they started the season 3- 0 and ranked #4 in the national D3 Men’s Volleyball coaches poll.  Then my brother had successful back surgery, so off goes another YAY card.  And last week, Stevens beat the #2 team and the #1 team suffered 2 losses.  Stevens moved up to #1 in this week’s poll.  So off goes another YAY card, this time to Da Buehring’s Ducks, with simply a big #1 inside.  So now I am watching their first of 2 matches on my big screen TV…so far so good.

But it’s not all about winning, it’s about setting up a mindset and attitude to be the best and do your best. And I’m proud to say that Dan, in his coaching career, has always emphasized mindset and doing the right thing as he leads these young college men and women to shape them to be, first and foremost,  good human beings.  Great lessons in life for anyone.  Positive affirmation is something we embrace and teach in Unity.  And I just checked the Stevens Athletics website and found their values and standards, and I must say they align quite well with Unity.  COMPASSION, COMMUNITY, INTEGRITY, KNOWLEDGE, AND LEADERSHIP.

So back to those YAY cards….I made it my mission to find reasons to send those cards out over the course of this year 2023, so I went back to Amazon Fresh and bought 2 more boxes of 12, so I have 36 all together.  Writing this I decided that I’m going to keep a list of who, when, and why I sent them to.  It will be fun to see this list at the end of the year.

Letting people know I care and I notice.

Addendum: Stevens won both of their matches yesterday. Go Ducks 🦆 🦆
