Two Days and Twenty Minutes

Greetings! I hope all of you and yours had a safe and wonderful Thanksgiving Day. There were only three of us at our table this year, but we all worked together to prepare a traditional Thanksgiving feast. Reed, Kitty and I all come from big families and, unfortunately for our inadequate refrigerator, we cooked like they were ALL coming to dinner! I should have taken a picture of the table before we sat down to eat. I think Thanksgiving dinner is an interesting process. We cooked for two days, laid it all out on the table, sat down and dove in. I don’t think we even remembered to go around the table and share what we were thankful for because we were so hungry and everything looked and smelled fantastic. And 20 minutes later, we were done! And, like every year, our kitchen looked like it had been ransacked by the FBI! But, again, we all worked together and by the time we were finished, everything was cleaned and polished and back to normal. (To be honest, Kitty did most of the cleaning up.)

The reason I’m sharing this little peek into my unique household is because if we had taken the time to share what we’re thankful for in this very trying, heartbreaking and scary year, this is what I would have said: I’m thankful for my family. I’m not talking about my brothers and sister back on the west coast. I’m talking about the family we make. And facing this horrible year with them and with our Unity in Naperville family has made this year a little less scary. A little less depressing. And we continue to learn and grow and build this very special Spiritual Community. Thank you for being a part of it! Happy Holidays to you all!
