“Ticking” (TKN)

I was all set to write an early message focused on Thanksgiving, but Kitty got to me this morning with her message.  So, I’m changing course with my message.  And speaking of being thankful, I am thankful for Kitty’s message, which opened my eyes and gave me something to think about, and TO DO!!

I’ve been thinking about what I say, and “think” also has those 3 letters, albeit in a different order.  TNK instead of TKN.  It all fits together.  In case you didn’t hear the message from Sunday, let me summarize what I learned, and where I intend to focus with my words and thoughts.  Or let me reverse that and think first before I use my words.

T  Is it TRUE?

K Is it KIND?

N Is it NECESSARY?

Words matter, and the old childhood saying “Sticks and stones may break your bones, but words will never hurt you” is not TRUE.  It is not KIND.  And it is not NECESSARY.  Words can hurt even more than physical damage. The “ME, TOO” Movement has accentuated the message in recent years.  And ask any child who has been called ugly, stupid, boring, weak, slow, a baby,  mean… I had to ask my granddaughters to get this list.

So, now I will practice “ticking” before I speak.  How about you?
