Rev. Kitty – Season for Nonviolence

Over the next few Sundays, I’ll be inviting you to join me at Unity in Naperville as we experience the Season for Nonviolence. As described by the Association for Global New Thought (AGNT), the Gandhi King Season for Nonviolence (SNV) commences annually on January 30, in cities across the globe. The annual 64-day campaign, co-founded in 1998 by Dr. Arun Gandhi and The Association for Global New Thought (AGNT), is an educational, media and grassroots awareness campaign spanning the January 30th and April 4th memorial anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  The purpose of the campaign is to focus educational and media attention on the philosophy of attaining peace through nonviolent action as demonstrated by legendary leaders Mohandas K. Gandhi, Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr., and others.

Throughout my messages, I’ll be offering a variety of views and practices that we can embrace to help us realize…”We don’t have to agree on anything to be kind to one another.” Unity’s spiritual principles will also give us some direction as we seek to create a space where we can each follow our own unique path in peace, without depriving someone else of theirs.  I think we can all agree that our country and our world is crying out for this. Will you join me in exploring new ways to be a leader in the movement for peace and kindness?

To begin with, I’d like to invite you to find a way to participate in the annual “Random Acts of Kindness” week which begins next Sunday, Feb. 16-23. I’m including a link to a list of ways that you can show kindness, not only to friends and family, but also neighbors, classmates, workmates, the planet, and even those you may struggle to be around. This is how peace begins, my friends! Take a look at the list and then go to our Facebook page, “Unity in Naperville” and let us know how you chose to be kind (include photos or videos too, if you like)!  Or send me an email at RevKitty@unityinnaperville.org and I’ll be sure it gets posted.

Looking forward to growing with you during this Season for Nonviolence.  Maybe we’ll find that the “season” turns into our life’s practice.

With love and peace, Kitty
