Rev. Kitty – Holding Vision From Highest Good

If you joined us at Unity this past Sunday, I hope you’re still munching on my message.  If you missed it, I hope you take time to listen to the podcast or view the livestream. As I mentioned, our topic came from Suzanne Case, who won my raffle prize at the Mardi Gras festival…a chance to choose the subject of a Sunday morning message. She presented a big question…”How do we stay positive when the world is crashing down around our ears?” I’m sure many of you could relate to her frustration, sadness and even fear when we feel we know what needs to be done, but people around us not only disagree, but also seem to have the power to work against us.  And so rather than focus on a solution, we judge them as fools and give our energy toward correcting them…reminding them that we’re right and they’re wrong. We may even feel, “Crazy is going to win unless I’m in this battle.”  Yet, as Jesus reminded us, judging another as an idiot reaps the same results as committing murder (Matt. 5). Metaphysically, we know that according to Universal Law we can only attract more of what we push against. Fighting back doesn’t keep the problem/error from spreading…it actually contributes to it. So rather than continue to be part of the problem, here are some ways to make a positive difference in a chaotic world.

  • When I am angry or fearful of another, believing they have the power to rob me or others of our good, I remember my job is not to change them, but myself.
  • Fear and anger are signs that I am giving my power away, when in Truth, no one and nothing can stand between me and God’s good.
  • I need not fear for the underdog, for the power of Good lives in every person and every person has the power to experience their good.
  • When I’m called to take action, it is not by fighting against the problem, but working toward the solution.  I hold a vision for the highest good of everyone involved, allowing hope and gratitude to inspire my steps.
  • And as I turn toward God/Good with an open heart, my good runs to meet me!

My upcoming class on Gary Simmons’ book “The I of the Storm” will continue on this topic.(See the article later in this e-news.) It will be a great opportunity to share and learn from others…not only about the frustrations we have in common, but the power we have to overcome them. “For in this world there will be tribulation, but take heart, for I have conquered the world!” (Jesus – John 16.33)

With great love,
Kitty
