As I write this, your Board of Trustees are packing up and heading home after our final meeting before our Annual Congregational Meeting this Sunday, Apr. 28th. It was bittersweet as two of our Board Members are completing their terms with us and we had our farewell party with them. Diane Pitterle and Leilah Siegel have gifted us with such love and support and we are deeply grateful for their willingness to serve. Beth Schwartz and Gordon Herzog are also completing terms and have chosen to run for re-election, which we are also thankful for! Our Unity Members (those who have completed the Membership class) will be asked to vote for four new trustees at our meeting. By now you should have received a full list of candidates for your review. You’ll have a chance to hear from each of them before the election.
Our Board Meeting was a joyful one as we finalized our presentation to share with you. We’ll review the success of our past year at Unity in Naperville (Spoiler alert! It was an awesome year!) as well as give you an update on the findings of our Building Committee. We will be making some important suggestions regarding our location and really want to hear your thoughts. We also have some big plans for this new year that include serving our spiritual community in several new ways, building on the amazing foundation we have already laid, and reaching out to newcomers through new avenues. As always, our goal is to make our Unity message available to all those who are ready to hear it…because we know how life-changing this message can be!
Please know that whether you’ve been part of Unity for years, or just found us last week, we want you to join us for this meeting. You do not have to be a member to attend. Every voice is important, every heart has wisdom to share, so please plan to be with us. We’ll start with a potluck at 11:30am and should be done by 1:15pm. Please bring a dish to share and Unity will provide the drinks and dessert.
This April marks our 12th Anniversary of Unity in Naperville, and yet each new year feels fresh to me. I’m so grateful for your willingness to grow in Spirit with me…not to mention the love, service, and contributions you have given to your spiritual community. I can’t wait to see what this new year holds. Thank you so much for walking this positive path of spiritual living called Unity! We’ll see you Sunday!
Love, Kitty
