Quarantine

Yep, it happened to me. I’ve been careful, wearing my mask, limiting my social contacts to mostly my immediate family, ….. And still, I was exposed to Covid. I had a contractor come to measure for new flooring for my soon to be new condo home. The 3 of us(realtor, me, and contractor) were all masked, and I’d guess there were no more than 5 minutes that we were
within 6 feet of each other, mostly in the elevator. That was on a Friday, and on Monday, my contractor texted me that he had tested positive for Covid and was symptomatic. Immediately I went into quarantine and contacted my realtor, who was also with us that day. We both tested for Covid on Thursday, she tested positive and I tested negative the same day.

I breathed a sigh of relief, and still continued to follow CDC recommendations to quarantine for 14 days from exposure. But I decided it was OK for me to go out for walks- masked when others were present. I practiced positive affirmations throughout those first 5 days, until I got the negative results, and beyond. I got lazy, spent a lot of time watching TV, scrolling through
Facebook, and other mindless activities. Unity online events helped me get through this time, from Lunch Together Online, Zoom Room of Doom, Sunday’s wonderful message from Rev. Kitty and our amazing Highest Good Band. I always knew I would be OK. I had that faith, and to UNITY, I give credit for my ability to do that. And Friday, at 5:10pm, exactly at the end of my 14 day quarantine, I entered Home Depot to choose my flooring.

Today I am grateful.

The Joy of Being

Some people refer to it as mindfulness or being in the moment. I’ve heard it said that right now is all that will ever matter
