Plans for Re-Opening & Participation / Viewership Survey

Updated Sunday July 19: We are postponing re-opening our building until September.  Based on the survey conducted in July, there is not enough interest to return as early as August and combined with IL COVID cases having gone up the past few weeks, we felt this was best.

If you missed our Annual Congregational Meeting on Sunday, June 28, here are the plans for re-opening our building.  We will be continue to watch IL guidelines and if the CDC advises that conditions have become unsafe to gather, we will postpone the date further.  In order for us to guide our decision for timing to reopen, we may conduct another survey in August.  Please check our website for our final decision about Service times at UnityInNaperville.org

Please read this entire article before planning to attend in person.

RE-OPENING REQUIREMENTS – We are asking everyone who plans to attend our in-house Services to be aware of and abide by the following criteria.

  1. ONLY 30 ATTENDEES ALLOWED PER SERVICE (plus Team)
    • In order for us to practice social distancing, we will only be able to fit about 30 chairs in the sanctuary. Once we’ve held our first Service we’ll be able to see if we can adjust this to a higher number.
    • Once we’ve received your survey we will determine whether to offer one or two Services each Sunday.  The 9am (Meditative) and 10:45am (Music) Services would return to their original formats.
  2. PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED
    • In order to make sure we do not have more than 30 attendees in a given Service, we will require you to register in advance for the Service you wish to attend. Once the 30 seats are reserved, we will close that Service. If we have people arrive on Sunday without registering, they will have to be turned away.
    • In order to give as many people as possible a chance to attend within a month’s time, we’re asking that you only register for one Sunday per calendar month. If by Friday of each week there are still seats left, you may register to attend additional times in the month.  This will be done on the honor system, so please be considerate of others.
    • We will be using a system like “EventBrite” to manage registration. We’ll include instructions and access info to reserve your seat as soon as we’ve seen the results of the survey. Watch the E-news or Website for an announcement about when/how you can sign-up. If you plan to attend with other family members, each member may be required to register separately (including children). Instructions will be provided at the time of registration. If you or someone you know doesn’t have access to the internet to sign up, they can email Admin@unityinnaperville.org or call 630-499-9968 to register. Please be sure you’ve received a response before assuming your registration is confirmed.
  3. FEELING ILL?  STAY HOME PLEASE
    • If you’ve made a reservation but feel ill the date of the Service, please stay home. Also if you’ve been with someone in the 14 days prior to the Service that you know now has the virus, please stay home.
    • To cancel a reservation for illness or other reasons, please email Admin@unityinnaperville.org to let us know.
  4. WEAR MASK / No singing
    • PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN MASK. We will have a few extras in case you forget yours but quantities are limited. Please be responsible and provide your own.
    • PLAN TO WEAR YOUR MASK while inside the building and if you are socializing outside the building.
    • To minimize the chance of spreading the virus we are asking our congregation not to sing, but to enjoy listening to the band. Kim-Char, Kevin, and Kitty will not be wearing masks while speaking or singing from the platform area.
  5. 6-FT. DISTANCE
    • Chairs will be placed 6 feet apart in the Sanctuary.  If you are attending with family members you may move a chair closer.
    • When entering and exiting the building please follow the guidelines given at the time so we may maintain distance between us.
    • There will be no in-house socializing, hospitality refreshments, in-person prayer with Chaplains, or Unity Kids classes. Please plan to visit with others outdoors after the Service.
  6. SANITIZER AT ENTRY & IN RESTROOM
    • Hand sanitizer will be placed around the building. Please plan to use it upon entry.
    • There will be sanitizing wipes in the restrooms. Please use them on high touch surfaces before leaving the restroom.
    • Only one person should use a restroom at a time.  If a line forms in the hallway, please practice safe distancing.
  7. NO TOUCHING / SHARING OBJECTS
    • We’ll have to put our usual hugs and handshakes on hold.  Why not greet each other with a “Namaste’” gesture…or you can always shout…”Hey! How ya doin?”
    • We will not be passing offering bags.  Please use one of the designated “Offering Stations” to leave your donation. Or you may use our online donation system at UnityInNaperville.org.
    • We will not be handing out programs, newcomer packets, or taking event sign-ups using paper. Please check our website for the information you’re looking for at UnityInNaperville.org or email Admin@unityinnaperville.org.
  8. AGREE TO NOTIFY REV. KITTY IF YOU BECOME ILL
    • We plan to support the process of “contact tracing” as recommended by the CDC, so if within 14 days of attending a Sunday Service at Unity, you become ill with the Coronavirus, please contact RevKitty@unityinnaperville.org or call 630-499-9968 to let her know. Without sharing your name, we will let the other attendees from that Service know so they may have an opportunity to get tested and/or self isolate.
