Gordon Herzog – Turning Toward Thankful

Tis the season to think about thankfulness and gratitude. I’ve learned that for some reason it takes more effort to turn my mind toward things to be thankful for rather than dwelling on regrets. Not sure why that is – and maybe it’s just me – but my default mode is often negative. The truth is that gratitude, happiness and bliss are available like static electricity. Always there. I just need to avail myself of that reality.

So, in the spirit of the season, here are some of the things I’m grateful for today and every day. I am thankful for my dear patient and longsuffering husband who is a daily demonstration of love and forgiveness. I am grateful for my dearest friend Kitty who came into my life when I was 15 years old and has been on this adventure with me for the past 46 years. (Another walking demonstration of love, patience and forgiveness, by the way. Guess I have a type.) I am grateful for Unity In Naperville and for all the lovely and loving people I have met here who have welcomed me into this amazing and powerful community. I am grateful to live in a country where I am free to think, believe, worship as I please and marry the person I love. And, of course, I am grateful for Netflix and that “The Crown” was renewed for two more seasons!

Happy Thanksgiving and much love from our home to yours!
