Greetings my Unity friends and family! I’m writing this from my home office where I’ve been working for the past two weeks. Well, almost two. The last time I was at the office was Monday, March 16th. That was also the last time I appeared in public. If you are also “sheltering in place” and “social distancing” and you’re anything like me, there are probably some things you really like about that and some things…not so much. I love being with my dogs and not missing them during the day. And they seem to really like it too. I enjoy my work space, because it’s in the corner of the house and has lots of windows. I like not having to shave and dress up every day, although I am starting to look a little like a homeless Santa Claus. I both love and do NOT love being close to the fridge. At work it’s about a quarter mile round trip walk to the kitchen. But having such ready access to food and not getting much walking done means the jeans are getting tighter. I finally took my FitBit off because it was getting a little too judgy.
Most of all I have been incredibly inspired and energized by the way our Unity in Naperville leadership and devoted volunteers have stepped up and addressed the reality of our situation, put everyone’s health and safety front and center and have allowed the creative juices to flow. Within hours of Governor Pritzker’s stay at home order they leaped into action and basically totally reinvented two Sunday services into an online experience that was rich and fulfilling.
There are so many opportunities for this community to stay connected, informed and spiritually nourished in spite of the need to keep our physical distance for a while. Our connection with Spirit and each other knows NO bounds. Read the rest of this eNews carefully to learn more about the myriad opportunities you have to stay connected to Unity In Naperville. And don’t hesitate to reach out to us if you have ideas for more connection.
One last thing. Please remember Unity In Naperville financially during this time. There is a “Donate” button on this email, on Facebook and at www.UnityInNaperville.org. It’s easy to do and you can donate via credit or debit card. And of course you are always welcome to mail your gift to us at PO BOX 9733, Naperville, IL 60567. Your gifts are such a blessing and help us continue to keep our Community thriving, particularly during this time. Thank you.
