Gordon Herzog – “Clarity”

When I was playing keyboard with Highest Good one of my favorite songs to play was “Centered in the Peace of God.” And not just because it was easy enough for my inexperienced fingers. The phrase that I loved most was, “There is wisdom, there is clarity, there is abundant joy. Centered in the Peace of God.” That word “clarity” really resonated with me for some reason. And I thought about that today while watching and listening to Reverend Kitty talk about water.

becomes clear

I realize that I’ve been in the muddy water for quite some time now. Even when I’ve actually not had a lot to do, I still churn up the water with fear and anxiety. The practices that Kitty outlined were a real lightbulb moment for me. Here’s how I interpreted it for myself. So you’re feeling overwhelmed, whether it’s related to career, family, pandemic, economy, politics, social injustice or worries about your own health, well being and financial future. Take a pause and take these 4 steps:

Physically – Step away

Mentally – Focus on your breath

Emotionally – Send “care” to yourself

Spiritually – Surrender

Let evening come. If we can learn to be still, remember who we are and the powerful enormity of what we’re part of and one with, we can let the muddy water stand and become clear.
