2020 has been a year of learning new ways of connecting. Here at Unity, we have had the Facebook connections through My Unity Peeps, Unity in Naperville, and UIN Feel Good videos. These have all been there since long before Covid. And have been fulfilling and a way to connect. But 2020 has brought a new way of connecting, and surprisingly it has been online, and mostly through Zoom. Unity has many Zoom offerings, from book discussions to the upcoming “My Octopus Teacher” discussion group (by the time this gets to you, that will have happened), to Crafers Circle, Creageous Writers, Energy of Spirit, Games Night, Zoom Room of Doom, and even cooking together online. Most of these are events that we did in person before this Covid-era.
But there is one that stands out for me, and it wasn’t happening before Covid. Well, actually, there were those of us who went to lunch together after the service some Sundays. But LUNCH TOGETHER ONLINE is a whole new experience. Tuesday and Thursday 12-1. You can eat…or not. Mostly we talk and catch up with each other. And we are silly. And we laugh together, and sometimes we cry. We listen to each other. And friendships have formed that reach beyond this Zoom; we support each other. And this happened all as a result of Covid and Unity in Naperville adapting to these challenging times.
For these friendships, I am truly grateful and blessed.
