We all carry baggage – suitcases full of childhood traumas real and perceived. When one persons trauma bumps into another persons trauma a mini explosion happens…”Boom!” Sudden anger, hostility and unkind words can fill the room and no one even fully understands what happened or where it came from!
It isn’t all that unusual to find ourselves in a situation when all of a sudden we are finding ourselves reacting with way too much energy
to someones words or actions that just trigger that short fuse. Our job in these times is to try to pause, take a step back and try to see where inside of us these feelings are coming from? With a little space and a few deep breaths we can then come back with a more normal reaction. Later, when we are alone, we can review what happened and try to trace back where the heck those feelings originated.

It almost made me a little nervous to write this e-blurb because I know all too well how life goes. I could be writing this article and feeling pretty good about myself, that it has been quite awhile since I had my buttons pushed. Yes… I’m doing pretty good with that.
We all know what happens next, right? I’m going to go to work and be serenely going about my day… and then all of a sudden..wham there it is! Button pushed! Emotions engaged! All systems go!
Well, at least when it comes and that happens I am lucky enough to come to Unity in Naperville where we get tools for our tool kits for times like that!! Keeping my serenity tool real close!!

Whether you’ve been attending Unity for a month or for years, all are encouraged to attend our Annual Congregational Meeting & Potluck on Sun. Apr. 27 in the Sanctuary. We’ll start right after the Service as we elect new Board Members and our Trustees will give you an update on this past year’s accomplishments. CLUE GAME NIGHT!!! - FRI MAY 2 at 7pm
Clue is a thrilling game that challenges players to solve a mysterious murder by gathering clues, making suggestions, and ultimately identifying the culprit, weapon, and location of the crime. With its intricate gameplay and suspenseful plot, Clue guarantees an exciting experience for players of all ages.

GORDON HERZOG - CELEBRATION OF LIFE SERVICE – SAT MAY 10 at 1:30pm at UNITY
Eighteen years ago, as Rev. Kitty pioneered Unity in Naperville, her best friend Gordon Herzog volunteered his services as Unity’s accountant...and he continued to do so until the day he passed on Jan. 28 of this year. It didn’t matter where he lived around the country, he always managed to gather the data and produce our financial reports for every board meeting. And for a season, while he lived in Naperville he also brought his years of pianist experience to our band on Sundays. At the time of his passing, he was living in Arizona. He and his husband, Reed had retired there recently and continued to watch us every Sunday on our livestream. Now Reed has decided to hold Gordon’s Celebration of Life Service back here at Unity, led by Rev. Kitty. If your path has crossed with Gordon over the years, or you’d just like to support Rev. Kitty as she says goodbye to her best friend of the last 50 years, please plan to join us in the Sanctuary at Unity in Naperville, 1600-C Shore Rd. Naperville 60563 on Saturday May 10 at 1:30pm. We’ll also enjoy light refreshments in the Café afterward. To help us prepare the food appropriately your RSVP would be helpful but not required.
