Being an Instrument of Peace

Sunday, Rev. Kitty spoke about being an instrument of peace and how we can do that. She spoke about looking for the Light in others. Likewise, my mother said “look for the Christ in people.” My grandmother used to quote Lincoln as having said “If you look for the bad in people you will surely find it.” I prefer to take Kitty’s and Mom’s version, and look for the Light. Both sides are true, but why draw the “bad”? She also noted that though there is only One power, we can give away power to others, to outside circumstance.

The daily word for this Sunday said in part:

I reaffirm my belief that no earthly condition, no worldly circumstance, is greater than Spirit. This is where I place my faith—in the power, presence, love, and grace of God. As I call upon these divine attributes within myself, I perceive them more readily in others. I grow in faith that, together, we have the power to create the world of our highest imaginings.

Rev. Kitty noted Prov 12.20, “Those who plan peace have joy and talked of starting our day planning to be peace”. She spoke of getting out of bed with a plan for peace in the day. I want to do that. I want to remember to look for the Light in others and draw that forward. I want to help “create the world of our highest imaginings”. Do you too?
