Dear Unity Friends,

I have been greatly enjoying Reverend Kitty’s latest message series, “The Healing Journey – From Darkness to Light.” Last Sunday, I, along with many other brave souls went through a healing of my own as I not only displayed some poems that I’d written but also sang publicly. The reason that I call this a “healing” was that despite loving to sing I have only sung publicly on a handful of occasions. As in…. maybe two. Why? Well (the darkness): fear. Fear of failure, fear of what other people would think of my voice, fear of embarrassing myself, etc. Although I have sang in choirs before, whenever I would think of singing solo in the past, inevitably fear would kick in and it would quickly shut that thought down!

Yet, this past Sunday, I experienced a shift. I stood up to sing, felt the fear, and went ahead and sang anyway. I remembered that I am a child of God, and that no matter what happened on that stage that God loved me anyway! And guess what? I’m still here, as are the many other courageous souls who shared their gifts with us. It was a beautiful day, and I was proud to be part of it. Often just when we’re about to break free from the grips of fear is right when it shouts the loudest. If we can just keep moving, we can get free and experience a healing or maybe even a miracle.
